Collaborates with Home
The artifact I have chosen to represent my collaboration with the home is a little present my CT and I put together for open house. My CT explained to me that she used to put together a PowerPoint presentation to use for open house, but over the years, she realized a lot of parents had their own questions they preferred to ask instead of listening to a PowerPoint. She also told me that parents come in and out so much, it is just easier to be there to greet every parent and answer any questions they may have.
We both greeted our new students when they came in and gave them our little gift. We introduced ourselves to the parents and had time to answer any of their questions they had. We also had time to talk with some of our students and get to know them a little bit before the first day of school. It was a really amazing experience to be there for my first open house as a teacher. The students were excited to see their new classroom, and my CT and I were both excited to see their bright faces.
I chose this artifact to represent my collaboration with the home because this was the first thing, I handed parents, and that is when my collaboration with the home began. Since then, I have sat on multiple parent teacher conferences, sent home newsletters, and wrote in my students’ binders to communicate with parents.
Collaborates with the school
The artifact that I have chosen for my collaboration with the school is a flyer I received for a spirit night at McDonald's for the school. At this event, parents, teachers, and students could come out to McDonald's to help raise money for the school. 20% of any purchase made from 4:30-7:30pm at this location would go towards the school.

I attended this event with some other interns and my CT. At the event, I ordered some food, and got to talk with some of my students and their parents, and other students with their parents as well. At the event, there was face painting, pictures with the hamburglar, and sweet treats.

This artifact represents my collaboration with the school because I used this flyer to give to all my students, and I used it when I was also at the event. Every student at the school received the same flyer. It was nice to see such a good turnout at the spirit night because it showed the positive culture of community we have at our school amongst all classes and grade levels.
